You’ve probably heard those words too often, but this guy’s story really is incredible. He was shot at point blank range, twice, overdosed on drugs who knows how many times, and is still around to tell me all about it.
This is my latest article for Premier’s Christianity magazine. In a departure from my usual historical pieces and explainers, they invited me to interview ex-gangster and current church leader Tommy Hanrahan for the Real Life feature. (I have done a feature article once before for Christianity, though). He certainly has a fascinating story and you can imagine how much of a struggle it was to get it down to 1,000 words. In fact, I needed the help of the magazine editor to get it there, because by the end I had cutting fatigue!
