Book talk at Bridgeton Library

12 Aug

Kicking off my autumn (ok, late summer, but it doesn’t feel like it) season of book talks and walks, I’ll be appearing at Bridgeton Library on Thursday 24th August from 6pm to talk about Hugh MacDonald (who was born only a few minutes’ walk from the library) and the process of annotating the 21st Century edition of his classic Rambles Round Glasgow.

Bridgeton Library is located in the Olympia Building on Orr Street, which is the very fancy red sandstone building right opposite the Bridgeton Umbrella / Bandstand and Bridgeton Railway Station, with “OLYMPIA” written in huge Art Deco letters. You can’t really miss it. And Bridgeton Station is only 2 stops (c.5 minutes) from Glasgow Central Station.

This event is free, naturally, and they will have copies of Rambles available to borrow, so you won’t even have to buy one!

The event was organised by Spela, the lovely Bridgeton librarian, and the poster opposite was designed by her colleague Ray. Come and say hello to them, and to me, and borrow a copy of the book to occupy the interminable rainy days of ‘summer’.
